After another successful year the Applied Optics Group

I am pleased to announce that the seminars will be running in the

This year, I have managed to book the 2nd floor lecture theatre in

the Tower Building for alternate Wednesdays, from 1:00 - 2:30pm,

so if we have a particularly interesting speaker there should be

plenty of time for questions.

* Time: Alternate Wednesdays at 1pm

* Place: Room 203, Tower (the Tower's only lecture theatre)

* Autumn Term: Wednesday 15 October 2008 - Wednesday 10 December 2008

* Spring Term: Wednesday 14 January 2009 - Wednesday 8 April 2009

* Summer Term: Wednesday 22 April 2009 - Wednesday 1 July 2009

I am going to need willing volunteers to give talks. I would also like

folks to think of external speakers they would like to invite to give a

talk. As a rough guide, academics might give a talk once every year or so,

post-docs every year or two, postgrads once every two or three years. I'm

very keen to get good external speakers.

Optics & Photonics Group Lunchtime Research Seminars

As the Optics & Photonics Group is in multiple locations (in multiple buildings), it is more important than ever to keep everyone abreast of what's going on. The ever-increasing amount of cross-disciplinary work provides a fantastic opportunity for researchers to hear talks in new areas.

Talks are usually very informal - they can be as short as 15 minutes; usually 30-40 minutes is about right. Alternatively, if you want to give a short talk, then we can run a session with two short (15-20 minute) talks. We have the room booked for an hour.

Talks will be every week. The list of forthcoming talks is here:
