Where to put your data

By conventional all experimental data taken on the AO unix cluster goes in one place. This arrangement has stood the test of time and helps to prevent data becoming lost, please use this convention. Assuming your account was setup making you a member of the group "scan" you can read and write to /home/scan/

The correct place to store your experimental data is in:

/home/scan/YEAR/MONTH/NAME of KIT/NAME of EXPT or SAMPLE

eg

/home/scan/2012/july/tank/aberrations/

or

/homescan/2012/july/tank/fan_blade

You don't have to start a new month everything the date changes - keep all the experimental data in one place.

This convention really does make it easier to find and backup your data!
