PhD study in the Applied Optics Group
The Applied Optics Group has around 45 PhD students at present and each year the recruits over a dozen new students who are funded through a variety of mechanisms including Faculty and University studentships, CASE awards, Dorothy Hodgkin awards. Around 50% of our students are from the UK/EU and 50% from overseas.
As we are a large and diverse group our PhD students conduct research on a wide range of cutting edge subjects from basic research into the science of wave phenomena to developing medical devices for use in the NHS.
Details and deadlines for Faculty Scholarships can be found here. The first stage in finding a PhD place is to contact a member of the group Applied optics or the head of group:Matt Clark.
