Student Background:

Hello, I am a PhD student who joined the OPG in October 2023. Prior to this, I completed my Neuroscience undergraduate degree at the University of Nottingham and graduated in 2022 with a MSci with Honours in the First Class. My PhD project is titled Functional Imaging of Barrier Function in 2D and 3D Epithelia.

PhD Project: Functional Imaging of Barrier Function in 2D and 3D Epithelia

Project Supervisors:

Professor Kevin Webb [1]

Professor Sidahmed Abayzeed [2]

Dr Ifty Ahmed [3]

Dr Rachel Clifford [4]

Project Description:

This inter-disciplinary project will create and validate next-generation platforms for electrical and functional characterisation of micro-physiological epithelial barrier tissue models. This work is linked to a recent NIH-funded ($7.5M) Translational Centre for barrier Microphysiological Systems (TraCe-bMPS) at the University of Rochester.
