Basem is a PhD student at the University of Nottingham. His research title is "Development of Optical Fibre Sensors for Photoplethysmography Measurements on the leg ". The aim is to use measurement technology to understand blood flow in the leg to support better treatment such as venous leg ulcers. He received a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from King Abdul-Aziz University and a Master's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Loughborough University.
