USB mounting and polkit
From Applied Optics Wiki
Issues may occur where you may not be able to mount USB drives (or other drives) outside of root. Using root is not a real option as you'd need to be able to copy/paste conveniently. The issue may be polkit related - a piece of software that is used to authorise users to do things. Create and add this to /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/10-consolekit.pkla
(under root);
